Well Placed HR is recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing industrial business operating within the natural resources and engineering sector.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation at a pivotal stage of its growth journey, supporting a major operational development project and helping shape the future of a strategically important operation.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Procurement Manager will lead the procurement function, delivering commercial value through strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, procurement governance and operational leadership.
You will be responsible for driving procurement performance across operational, project and service-based spend, ensuring strong supplier relationships, effective commercial outcomes and robust procurement processes.
The role also provides leadership across warehouse and inventory activities and will have 5 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing and procurement strategies across key spend categories.
- Lead tendering activities, supplier selection and commercial negotiations.
- Manage procurement performance, reporting and KPI delivery.
- Oversee day-to-day procurement operations and team leadership.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, controls and governance frameworks.
- Support ERP implementation, adoption and process optimisation.
- Collaborate with operational, engineering, finance and project teams to support business objectives.
- Provide functional leadership across procurement, warehouse and inventory activities.
The ideal candidate will :
- Be MCIPS qualified.
- Have proven procurement leadership experience within industrial, manufacturing, engineering, construction, mining, quarrying or project-based environments.
- Have strong commercial and negotiation skills with a track record of delivering value.
- Be experienced in managing procurement activities across goods and services.
- Have strong stakeholder management and influencing capability.
- Have experience working within ERP-enabled procurement environments.
- Have ability to balance commercial priorities, governance and operational delivery.
- Experience within heavy industry, procurement transformation programmes, category management or ERP implementation projects would be advantageous.
