Interim HR Business Partner – Plymouth / Hybrid – Circa £40,000 (FTE) + Excellent Benefits - 6–9 Month assignment - Immediate start/ before end of August

Well Placed HR are proud to be working in partnership with a highly respected educational provider as they seek to appoint an experienced Interim HR Business Partner, to support their People Team during a key period of transformation and strategic delivery. This is a full-time role, offered out on a temporary basis and expected to run for an initial 6 months (likely extending to 9 months). The role will be based in Plymouth/remote, with occasional travel to sites across the South West. This is a fantastic opportunity for HR professionals looking to make an impact in a values-led, mission driven environment with a passionate commitment to educational excellence.

Reporting to the Head of People and working closely with the Director of People, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering the people strategy across a cluster of sites and central teams. You’ll act as a strategic advisor and hands on partner, driving forward initiatives in employee relations, organisational change and leadership development.

Key responsibilities include:

- Build collaborative relationships with site leaders, business managers and union reps across your region

- Provide high-level advice on complex ER cases, including investigations, disciplinaries and employment tribunals

- Lead change management processes including restructures, TUPE transfers and new school onboarding

- Guide senior leaders through people-related challenges and support a proactive, inclusive and engaging culture

- Oversee workforce data insights and analytics to inform strategic planning and resource deployment

- Contribute to policy development and ensure all HR practices are robust, legally compliant and aligned with organisational values

- Deliver leadership and people management training to support cultural development and performance improvement

- Take ownership of assigned people projects, working to deadlines and managing multiple stakeholders across sites

- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and promote a high-trust, high-performance culture across the Trust

- Represent the People Team professionally and proactively, always modelling the values of the organisation

You’ll be a confident and capable HR generalist, ideally operating at Business Partner level or ready for that next step. Strong employee relations expertise is essential, along with the ability to manage sensitive and high-stakes situations with professionalism and care. We’d love to hear from applicants who are CIPD Level 5 qualified or above and who have at least two years of recent experience in a similar role. A background in education or the public sector would be beneficial, though we’re open to commercial sector professionals too. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to bring their HR expertise to a purpose-led organisation.
